Mission Statement:

Horopito Café crafts nourishing food from local and indigenous ingredients for neighbouring communities and ecosanctuary visitors to enjoy while supporting a sustainable ethos that everyone can share and cultivate together.

Brand Story:

Whether you are warming up after a day in the ecosanctuary or searching for a beautiful view as a backdrop to enjoy your coffee, stop into the Horopito Café. The café is located in the beautiful Orokonui Valley. Come visit out friendly staff any day of the week, a short 10 minute drive from Port Chalmers and Waitati and only a 25 minute drive from Central Dunedin.

Horopito café uses the finest locally-sourced organic vegetables and indigenous ingredients to create delicious fare for everyone to enjoy. The Horopito coffee blends use ethically sourced coffee beans from Kenya, Colombia, Guatemala and Ethiopia that are roasted on site in the café. The café also makes their own chai blend and sourdough bread made from scratch.

The café works to minimise packaging, uses UV treated rainwater, and solar heated hot water in an effort to be as sustainable as possible and to help maintain a balanced environment for generations to come. All proceeds from the café go to conservation of the ecosanctuary.

The Visitor Centre is the perfect place to host birthday parties, weddings, anniversaries, gigs and work functions. We have multiple venues to choose from including in the private meeting room, spectacular atrium, or a landscaped garden with stunning views. The Horopito café is available to cater for these private events.
